Lets all pray for the Missouri firefighter who was taken from us today by a sensless situation. A gunman opened fire on him and crew while attempting to extinguish a car fire. Lets remember to always watch our surroundings and be safe. Our thoughts and prayers go out to this young firefighter that was taken today.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and department. We will continue his legacy and follow in his foot steps, the shining example that he set for us. Fallen, but never forgotten. Peace and God Speed.

We at Local 2665 our morning the loss of our friend and brother Ryan. He was an amazing guy who was cut short on such a sensless tragedy. Our friend and brother of Local 2665 was just doing what we all do everyday, serve those who need us and unfortunately Ryan and the crew that morning came across a madman who set up an ambush against him. The shooter was upset with the city of Maplewood for recent violations as the man had property that had a ton of clutter in his back yard that the city requested he clean up...........The man was pissed and for this reason OUR FRIEND AND HERO LOST HIS LIFE!!!!! The man then caught his home on fire and committed suicide. The house burned down on him and he was discovered in the rubble yesterday. I say they found his bones but his soul BURNS in hell right now while we have an angel on our side that GOD felt the need to take. To my close friends of the Maplewood FD with whom I worked 4 years with before I came to my present district, all my love and thoughts with you!! Thank you Ryan for all that you gave to your community, friends, family and co-workers. We pray for all of them and I personally feel a little safer knowing that Ryan is up there on our side. GOD bless baby!!

Absolutely point less to happen. It hurts a lot, because we train ourselves so hard on scene safety and then something happens that we had no control over.

This is something you could expect in a large city in the depressed areas or gang areas, but not in a quiet neighborhood like this one. It is sad and uncalled for, to take a young mans life who had not done anything to this person. I he wanted to end his life this way, he did not have to take anyone with him all my prayers go to the family, friends and brothers of Ryan.

How tragic! I guess firefighters are going to have to don Kevlar vests along with their Nomex hoods.
