But as an addendum to the thoughts expressed in it, the City of Providence finally saw the errors of their ways and passed the "Presumptive Cancer Ordinance", which essentially states that if a firefighter contracts cancer, it is considered job-related and if they have to retire, they can still receive their retirement benefits. There is a very ugly political story behind it, but that's neither here nor there. Ugly politics is business as usual everywhere, I'm sure.

Point is that the Ordinance was a MAJOR win for the PFD and I'm exceptionally proud of the work that the Local 799 Board did with the council members to get it worded properly and passed!
