Hey Jim,
i was deployed to Iraq in 2004. It is hot and sandy!
I arrived in Iraq in March and till the beginning of May the weather was great. 75-80 during the day, 60-70 at night, sometimes a bit cooler. One day in May the weather just changed over to like 135. no lie! At night about 110 so start going into fires without gear to train. JK!!
I would recommend some winter weather gear for this time of year and some wick gear for summer.
Also, the sand. It has the consistency of baby powder and will get into everything, so make sure ya'll check EVERYTHING, all the time, especially packs and pumps.
You'll need electrical converters prob so grab a whole bunch.
i don't know where your going, but i would recommend a bullet proof vest. A lot of us bought our own and wore it under our issued gear. It is Iraq.
Other then that, keep your head down, don't trust anyone, if you feel that sixth sense start popping up, listen to it.
If you have any questions hit me up and SEMPER FI!!!
