Hello Dave,
The first thing I would like to know about is how many 4' X 8' Finn forms do you have in your cache? What thickness are you using? Have you considered leaving part of your forms without strong backs for flexability and storage. Definately plan for cutting the corners at 45 degrees to limit points on the Finn Form and the strong backs. Then run a router around edges to soften. Near those on the Finn Form you will need 1 inch holes for use with 5/8 to 3/4 inch ropes. Lots of folks only use 1/2 inch rope, but I have found that using a larger diameter is much easier to hold and pull on. Back to the strong backs, have you trained setting up a section of the trench by shooting directly onto the Finn Form. Sometimes having a couple of forms cut into longways to 2' X 8' can be useful. Two or three 1/2 inch bolts with t-nuts will hold the strong backs to the form. By the way I am a trench rescue instructor from North Carolina and teach in the Mason-Dixon Trench Weekend in York Co, Penn. (formerly located in Baltimore Co, MD.)
