I write to all who are in this service.
WE, have recently lost one of the bravest. I never had the chance to fight beside him. But I know he would have had my back. I lost a very dear friend and fellow firefighter this last week. He was only 22 years olds. He had grown up on the fire service. He was known as the "Gentle Giant" Vince Vixon was well over 6 foot tall and wore size 20 fire boots. He may have only been part time but I know his heart was always there full time. He Never knew how to say no if anyone needed help. I had to let everyone know of the kind of person some strive to be but never obtain, Vince did this with ease. He was well on his way to completing his Paramedic course. I know he had all of the compassion it takes to do the job. He was killed in a roll over accident in the early am of June 23,2008. The Fire Company that responded was that of a mutual aid department. I also have sympathy for those FF. That had to be one of the hardest rescues. Most of the FF from the responding department knew the FF that had to be extraicated from his vehicle.
I can not imagine having to cut my own out of a crushed vehicle. There hasn't been any release as to what caused the accident. If I find out I will be sure to post it. Thank you for reading this.
Go Rest my Fallen Brother, Friend.
Love Always and Never Forgotten.
