2008 Fire/EMS Safety, Health & Survival Week

The week of June 22-28 is Fire/EMS Safety, Health & Survival Week. The following topics have been identified for special consideration:

1. Fully implement NFPA 1500 , especially sections addressing PPE:
- Provide compliant PPE.
- Train and enforce use of PPE, including respiratory protection.
2. Fully implement the Wellness-Fitness Initiative:
- Provide annual medical and physical evaluations.
- Provide equipment and time for exercise.
- Provide nutrition information
3. Initiate an emergency vehicle policy, to include:
- Always buckle up.
- Always stop at red lights and stop signs.
- Always drive at speed limits and defensively.

In conjunction with safety week, the NFPA is launching our new web site www.fireservicetoday.org.

Please stop by for a visit. We have a number of interesting podcasts, links to view important NFPA standards for free, and sample SOPs/SOGs.

All sounds good !
Will have to follow on the new site. Hopefull it will spread and stimulate discussion. More importantly it unifies a common voice towards progress.

Excellant post Curt. A week long initiative such as this will hopefully pull some departments closer to getting on the ball and safer.
You get up to Springfield this past weekend?
