Tommorrow, it will have been a year since the horrible tragedy at the Sofa Super Store.
The year has flown by for most of us, but it's been the longest and saddest year in the lives of our brothers from the Charleston Fire Department and especially for the families of the Charleston 9. I was one of the family escorts for the memorial service, and it was one of the hardest things I've ever done. I knew two of the nine, and that just made it worse.

Heather, if you read this, remember what I told you at your home prior to the trip to the Coliseum. We are ALL your family.

Brothers and sisters, please take a moment out of your time tomorrow, pause, and reflect on our fallen brothers and realize that it can happen to any of us the next time we roll out through the open bay doors.

Well done Ben. I have followed the whole situation since it happened, and still follow the flow of information that comes out.
I had a FF friend just the other day say that he is "tapped out" hearing about it all the time; I don't think he was being negative, he just has digested the situation and is done with it.
I can honestly say that I don't feel the way he does; for me there is more to it yet. Where I am at, we didn't have any personal attachment to those involved as you did; but like many times before, we still felt the loss. I send my best to all of the people involved and still hurting on the one-year anniversary.
