RE: Death Announcement
DATE: 4/22/2008

It is my sad duty to inform you of the non-line of duty death of Firefighter/EMT-I Tasha Longyear, Sunday April 20, 2008.

Tasha joined our department in 2005, and quickly became a valued member of our team. She was awarded EMS person of the year “2007”.

The circumstances surrounding her death do not distract from the reality that she was a respected member of the Brookville Fire Department and Ohio Fire Service. She will be honored with a “type 2 off duty” funeral service.
Tasha was also a member of the Riverside Fire Department, they will be included in our planning process, but Brookville Fire Department will assume the function of primary funeral planning.

Tasha’s viewing will be held at Gilbert-Fellers Funeral Home, 950 Albert Rd, Brookville Ohio on Wednesday April 23, from 1600-2000, with the funeral taking place on Thursday April 24th at 10:30, internment at Arlington Cemetery on State Route 40 just west of Arlington Rd.

The following planning coordinating functions have been established:
Honor Detail, including pallbearers: Capt. Hensley
Last Alarm: Capts Ullery & Hensley
Standby Crews: Lt. Barnhart
Procession/flyover: Lt. Marburger
Pipers: Chief Nickel

You may be contacted by one of the above coordinators needing assistance, or if you would like to offer assistance please contact us at 937-833-2345, also if you plan to sent vehicles to the funeral procession please let us know.

Thank you all for your offers of support and kind encouragement during these difficult times, its difficult but our “fire service family will help us through these times”

Be Safe, hug them all,

Chief James W. Nickel, OFE
Brookville Fire Department
