I figure i would post a blog being i just joined this site, alittle background first though. I have only been on my Vol Dept. for just over a month Still learning the ropes im actually going to a esstential class next month. i have already been on one structure fire a barn fire, several grass a few car fires and one Accident. The Accident being my 1st call and sadly it was one of the worst one my dept has delt with in a very long time. My town is rather strange though we have two different depts. One is just entirely fire and the other is enitrely BLS EMS, i am just on fire though i hope to move over to EMS sometime. Being i was a EMT B. I do believe the saying though the job chooses you not the other way around. The guys at the house have all teased me saying i picked a perfect time to join just with the volume of calls and types. Things have seemed to becoming rather easy to learn minus the pump training lol though its not entirely hard there is just alot of information to take in lol. i have the pumping operations down for our brush trucks, but i guess when you have 4 grass fire calls in one day that will do it to ya. they have moved me over to Tanker and Pumper operations now, hopefully i can get the hang of it soon. Will end this now but will continue to blog about my progress in learning to become a Firefighter.
