The Providence, RI Fire Department has been working without a contract for five years and although some issues have been resolved, there are far more that need to be. Not to mention the fact that the City is looking to make even more cuts to the Department, which is not only stupid, but downright dangerous, too.

I started this petition a couple of years ago and have been gathering signatures steadily ever since. You do NOT have to be a citizen of Providence or of Rhode Island. The point of it being open to anyone for signatures is that it garners NATIONAL and in some cases INTERNATIONAL attention to a problem that is growing Nationwide. If we can set a new standard here in Providence, things might just start to get better for ALL Firefighters, Police Officers, Rescue Workers and First Responders.
