My life changed DRASTICLY on June 21, 1999.
That's when I was told I had M.S.
The doctor's believe that I had my first "attack" in Feb. '99, but can't prove it.
Because of an error in Feb'99, I lost my job of 4 years and 10 months (2 months shy of being vested).
I had no answer for the error (processed a 3.5 mil. fraud check) I had committed.
I picked up unemployment for a while (went crazy).
I believe that in those 2 months my house was the cleanest it had EVER been or ever will be.
I worked for a family tour bus company (DeBolt) for a while.
My symptoms increased: short & long term memory =blocks, cognitive functions =screwy, balance =off, body parts =not listening, fatique =increased, numbness =started, being able to do simple tasks with numbers and spelling ='f.u.b.a.r.' ed, heat/humidy =a killer for MS patients, can no longer make committments =SUX, bed ridden days =aren't fun & scared of what could happen =Definiately!!
I have "lucked out" and have the Remitting-Relaspsing M.S..
Over the years it has mainly physcially effected my legs; unable to walk and have to relearn how to.
Once it took the use of my legs from the knees down.lol. I went into Harmarville Rehab. on that one (the best vaca. I've had from my family- LOL).
After an 'attack' in 9=99 that put me in the Hospital 1+ weeks, I applied for SSD. I didn't get it at first and appealed...2-00 I won my case.
My daily life depends on= a palm pilot w/alarm (won on WAMO), spell checker, calendar, cell phone (I get lost in my own area), family & friends to keep me on track. I have a standard response "We will have to see".
I have alot of trouble with spellings and numbers.
I joined the VFD (gopher/FirePolice) to keep an eye on my daughter, but it has given me a reason to get back into life itself.
I used to be an EMT right after I got married (going on 18 yrs) and remained one for 5 yrs til my #'s ran out. I couldn't run the risk of taking Con-Ed and losing my SSD.
I've lucked out having a Volunteer FD, I can go if I know I can do the job required of me on a scene. Or I just listen to the call at home.
I can answer any questions anyone has or I can look them up... Let me know.
Peace, Judi
