Fire Damages Townhouse in 801 Housing

Fire just after noon Thursday damaged a duplex townhouse in the 'LeRay Heights' 801 housing complex.
The fire was at 26972 Eldon Drive, just off Route 11 north of the Super WalMart in the Town of LeRay.

The fire began as a grease fire in a kitchen, and spread through one side of the duplex, melting siding.

A husband and wife got out safely.

There was smoke damage on the other side of the duplex, where a mother and her two children escaped without injury.

Evan Mills firefighters were assisted by firefighters from Fort Drum, Calcium, Watertown and Black River.
