01/03/2007 - We were paged to a car fire today. I took the role of IC. The fire in question was actually in another jurisdiction, but since they didn't answer the page we got paged. By the time we got there the car was a total loss. It took a little longer than usual because of the below freezing temperatures. I opted to have Engine 5 respond because it has a heated pump compartment. E5 is a huge truck with a top safe speed of 65 mph (see my pix). The fire was over 15 open highway miles away. The car was a TOTAL loss.

High School Shop Class kids took a car they were working on for a test drive and it caught fire. Poor kid... he doesn't have a car anymore.
I bet those ocean front community fire departments don't have to order their trucks with a heated pump compartment...
