Hi folks!I'm senior firefighter Biautubu aka Bish and I'm a member of the Suva Fire Brigade...which is under the National Fire Authority of Fiji.
Fiji is an island nation in the South Pacific an occupies an archipelago of about 322 islands of which 106 are permanently inhabited. The two most important islands Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, are mountainous with peaks up to 1300m and covered with tropical forest.Viti Levu hosts the capital city of Suva[where I reside]and is home to nearly three quarters of the total population of 853,445[est].
The National Fire Authority provides 14 Fire Stations to service the three main divisions in the country and has 229 operational staff with 57 volunteers to cover an area of approximately 18,274sq2.The NFA has a total of just 28 fire appliances - 21 tankers,4 pumpers,1 rescue vehicle,1 ladder unit and a slip on unit and the trucks are mostly brought from Australia and Japan.
My Brigade[Suva Fire Brigade]provides services to the city of Suva and it's boundaries. We usually receive 900-1000 calls in a year and have the ladder unit, the rescue vehicle,2 tankers and a pumper trucker to cover for it's operations.
That's about it folks....and lastly, please be informed that Fiji is also a holiday destination with lots of uninhabited islands with lots of sunshine, it's white sandy & swaying palm trees,, beaches to explore etc...in the middle of pure nature, don't you think!
Anyway,be safe out there,folks!!
