I am taking a survey on hemostatic agents. These are "blood stoppers" used in the military environment and is becoming widely prevalent in the SWAT community. I would like as many people to respond as possible about whether or not they carry or have heard of various hemostatic products. So far this is a list that I have compiled and I have much more information on application.

It has lazy river flowing ice cold water though the center of town which will be awesome during those hot days of summer. You can splash around on innertubes for hours. The Wilderness Medicine EMT upgrade course is for medical professionals and will be starting on August 18-22, 2008. Course Cost will be $600 and upon successful completion you will receive…

Under fire...we were there within minutes of the dispatched. Lightning had hit a house and started a fire in the attic. We got there in full turnout and grabbed the preconnect for a fast attack. The visibility in the house was crystal clear and very quiet. You can feel your heart beat. Its pounding from the adrenalin. We head up the flight of stairs and can hear it over us. The fire. We pull the ceiling with the pike poles and can see a sliver of an amber glow. It grows brighter the harder we…

Maybe I'm just a geek. There was a question that somebody asked me and I thought that it was very thought provoking. I would like to hear from everybody and what they think. The question. What would you say is your legacy to someone 300 years from now?

I talk to alot of fire/EMS folks who are always asking on recommendations for a tactical medic school and of course my natural response is Tangent Edge. With all bias being put aside, there are many tactical medic schools besides Tangent Edge that are quite remarkable. CONTOMS was developed many years ago and was one of the original Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TC3) programs headed by members of Special Forces. CONTOMS is currently NOT up and running due to funding. I expect they'll be up…

Hello all! I hope everyone is safe and well. Today I would like to open up a topic about Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD). As we watch the news for changing conditions in Iraq and Afghanistan and to possibly catch a glimpse of our dear friends and family members who are serving overseas, we do not see how some of the soldiers are returning home. Can you imagine how tired the soldiers are with the war now into it's 7th year? You can see in their eyes the fatigue, you can hear it when…

A question was posted about the SWAT Medic eBook to see if it was available in print? The answer is yes! It is offered in eBook for immediate download from lulu.com and Amazon on the Kindle viewer. It can be purchased from Surgical Tactics as a reference chart. The tactical medic training that is coming up in Austell 14-18 July is a level A course and meets or exceeds the TEMS and TC3 guidelines for tactical medics and medical professionals. It is clear at this moment, that there is not enough…
