About Me:
I joined BVFD in March of 1990, I aquired AFA and CPR and started riding the Ambo. I was married that fall to a Firefighter and the following year changed my status to Associate as I started having children. I did still ride occasionally and was still very involved in the administrative duties of the department.
In 1997 I took EMT-B and became an Active member and received Top Ten Awards for Ambo calls in 1997, 1998 and 2000 along with the Cheif's Award in 1998.
Toward the end of 2001, my husband and I separated and so I took a sabbatical from the department. Though I missed it very much, I needed to be at home with my children through this time. After the divorced, I still did not go back right away to riding, as other things just kept me so busy, though all 3 of my boys joined the department during this time.
So, my New Years resolution for 2007 was to start spending more time at the department. I refreshed all my classes and started spending as much time down there as possible, I had even made it to #1 in Ambo calls for the year, which I held from April to June, but I am sure that I am just somewhere in the top 10 now, as work has kept me away for the past two months.
I had friends that were volunteering and I decided that it was something I would like to do, but I have to admit the adrenalin rush is the real reason.
