Your Firefighter Nation : Firefighter EMS and Rescue Social Network Box

My company just had its first LODD, and of one of the funniest, happiest, well-loved men I have ever met. Please, keep Ray and his family in your prayers and stay safe. Watch out for each other. We are all family, whether we have met or not. There is nothing like the bond shared between firefighters, and we need to make sure we have each others' backs.

Ray, I love and miss you so much. You will always have a place in my heart, and at WFC. I know you will watch over us and protect us. You will be in my prayers forever. <3 Kristen

Raymond Simonis 3d | Machinist, firefighter, 48
Raymond C. Simonis 3d, 48, of Ambler, a machinist and volunteer firefighter, died Wednesday at Abington Memorial Hospital of heart failure.
Born in Philadelphia, he was a graduate of Abington High School, where he played football. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Wissahickon Fire Company and Haz-Mat Team 919. He also was the fire chief at SPS Technologies in Jenkintown, where he worked for 28 years as a machinist.
Deputy Fire Chief Deputy Anthony Minio said Mr. Simonis had worked at a fire in Upper Dublin Township less than 24 hours before he died. "It's pretty grim around here right now," Minio said. "He was just a happy-go-lucky guy - he never had a bad day."
Mr. Simonis enjoyed fishing and football, especially watching the Eagles.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 25 years, Christina M. LaRuffa Simonis; daughters Marika, Alyssa and Gabriella; and his parents, Raymond C. and Estelle Rammos Simonis Jr.
A viewing will be held today from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Emil J. Ciavarelli Family Funeral Home, 951 E. Butler Pike, Ambler. A service will be tomorrow at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Gabriella Rose Simonis Scholarship Fund, c/o Citizens Bank, 874 Welsh Road, Maple Glen, Pa. 19002.
