Some years back when I was about 8 I had a friend who died in a house fire on christmas eve. What had happen was him and his brothers and sisters were at their aunts house staying the night so their alcholic mother could go bar hoping. Later that night when they had gone to bed they had left the christmas lights on. The tree that they was on was real and had not been well watered. At approx. 3 am their christmas lights shorted out. To make a long story a little shorter they had not been well educated about how to have a fire escape plan and how not to BLOCK your windows with furniture. When the firefighters arrived and made entry they found everyone dead. Some was under their bed hiding from the smoke and some had never made it out of their bed before the carbon monoxide had killed them. So I guess the reason I wanted in the fire service was so that I may be able to help teach kids and their parents a few fire safety lessons so that maybe this incident doesn't have to repeat its self.
You said it brother; no matter what you do or where you go, a vol's heart is sold gold...Thanks for the kind words and this chief tilts his helmet to ya...Be safe and take care of yourself, then your buddy and then everything else...
