I have been with the fire department for a total of almost 6 years, 4 of which were spent as an explorer. I have been a firefighter for almost 2 years.

My Training:

I am firefighter 1 and 2 certified, EVD, Haz-mat awaremess and ops., Clandestine drug lab awareness, NIMS-100, 200, 300, 800. I am currently getting ready to take my NREMT test for my EMT-Basic.

About Me:

It's pretty simple, my family has made a tradition of being a firefighter i am a third generation firefighter. I spent 4 years as an explorer, that was where i decided that this was what i really wanted to to. Then this past July i finally got hired as a probationary firefighter. I start the fire academy on October1 st, which is tomorrow.

Why I Joined Fire/EMS

Firefighting has become a huge tradition in my family. My grandpa retired as a lieutenant, my dad is currently my deputy chief, my uncle is a driver at my station and my cousin is a firefighter at my station. So, it is a pretty big part of my family.

Why I Love Fire/EMS

The thing that is kinda a given is running lights and sirens against traffic at 30 mph. But i got into it because it is a way to help the people that you live around.

Top Issues Facing Responders:

Safety, that has become a huge issue around here. Constantly our officers are talking about fireground safety.
