I spent two years living at Dunstan Station in Scarborough, ME as a live in student with the Scarborough Fire Department. During that time I worked along side the members of the department and served as an active firefighter/EMT.
My Training:
Firefighter I, EMT-B, QCC Paramedic Program, SMCC Graduate of Fire Science Technology, Haz-Mat Ops., ACLS, National Fire Academy Fire Service Leadership, Certified Public Life Safety Educator
About Me:
I have worked in various formats with three fire departments since I started my career. I started with, and currently remain an active member of, the Hubbardston, MA fire department. I also served as an Intern at the Gardner, MA fire department my senior year of high school where I responded to calls with the members. During college I attended Southern Maine Community College where I was enrolled in the Fire Science Associates degree program. I was accepted into a special program put on through the college where I lived at a fire station instead of a dorm. As part of the program I had to be in quarters every night by 2230 hrs, be up every morning with bunk made by 0730 hrs, and respond to all calls while in the station. I am currently in paramedic training, hopefully testing by the late fall/early winter.
Day Job:
Emergency Room Critical Care Tech/ Student
Why I Joined Fire/EMS
Firefighting is in my family, my father, unlce, and grandfather are all or have been full time firefighters for their entire careers. Its something that I fell in love with and couldn't imagine doing anything else.
