join the department as afirefighter recruit in 1967...first 5 years back step firefighter, become involved with ems/rescue after my 5th. year..become ems/rescue instructor at both the basic and advanced life support levels....became fire captain 1987
, acting in the battalion chief capacity throughout must of my last 10 yrs..retired 32 yrs. of service in 1999.......

desire to be a firefighter...no volunteer experience...career went swiftly and would love to do it all over again...........

just seem to be who I was, and what I was meant to be!!!!!!
Top Issues Facing Responders:
manpower shortage...is the primary concern facing fire departments nationally and abroad...major saftey issues are of great concern......blood borne pathogens...I contracted hepatitis "C" that was career related which resulted in liver transplant...these r just a few.....career burnout is a real problem contrary to what some fire department administrator made believe...
