Was a first responder for 5yrs in a small town south of where I live now. I have been apart of Kronwetter for 10yrs as a firefighter and a first responder. We have 28 volunteers 11 of us are into the ems side of it also. We are a close little family and I love them all. We have our struggles with our town board members just like everyone else. I think we are a good team.
My Training:
I took FFI in 1999 and now am doing the FFII class. Yes I think it is very hard. I don't often get to get on a truck seeing I live 9 miles away from the department. I straight to sceane, I carry all my gear in my truck as do some of the other members. Trust me it is full at this time with my AED,bunker gear, jump kit and a piss can (grass fire season is apon us) I took the EMT Basic class this past fall and I take mt NREMT exam on April 27. I have to do my 20hr hazmat class in May. We as a whole department are taking the FFII and hazmat together.
About Me:
I am no different than anyone else that does this crazy type of work. Love to go on call's like to some of the training. I'm not going to lie I get a little nervous when the cheif want's me to get water from E-1. I just don't get to be the pump oprator all that often. That's one of those trainings that I dred.
Day Job:
Director Health Servics at Acorn Hill
Relationship Status:
Married
Why I Joined Fire/EMS
I have been in the health feild for a long time and wanted to more for my home town. I was a first responder for 5 yrs then I moved back to my home town and wanted to continue doing that type of work and somehow I ended becoming a firefighter 10 yrs ago. I just completed my EMT class take my NR on April 27 and now am going to FFII class. I love doing this type of work. My oldest daughter is trying to get on my department and start getting involed with the the good works we all do.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
It is such a awsome rush to do what we do
