Why I Joined Fire/EMS
At the time I joined the pay was $10,300.00 so it was not for pay but rather it was for the excitment of the job and the opportunity of givining something back to my community. Actually 29 years later I do not have any regrets. I am however very disappointed in the attitudes of this generations firefighters. They are so bitter that they have destroyed the loyalty and brotherhood of being a firefighter. They blame management, but in 29 plus years very little has changed with management, but the level of dedication is not what it use to be. I am glad to be retiring in the near future so I will not be infected by this generation of "Firefighter".
