About Me:

I am currently attending the University at Buffalo will I will also attend medical school to become a doctor. I joined the fire service mostly for the EMS experience because I believe it will help me become a better physician one day. I have only been a member in my company for 6 months. I am already a certified EMT and will complete NYS Firefighter I by the end of April. I greatly enjoy the training and keep pushing myself to go above and beyond what my company expects of me so that I am well prepared for my stay in the fire service.

I joined the fire service to become involved in the new community that I now call home, gain medical experience, and build an extended family.

Top Issues Facing Responders:

Retention-The turnover rate at our hall is 65% for new members. How are we supposed to have confidence in the abilities of our firefighters when they lack training and experience because we as a firefighting community can not figure out how to prolong commitment in our organizations.
