Why I Joined Fire/EMS

On 9/11/01 I was the Captain of an American Airlines flight that landed in STL as the first tower was coming down. Right then, I knew I had to do something meaningful with my life…..I wanted to make a difference. I started as a volunteer with the Red Cross, then did the CERT program. I eventually became a Fire/EMS dispatcher and now a FF for the Washington Volunteer Fire Company on Engine 153.
