FF1, FF2, CPR basic, State Survival, State FAST, State Extrication, plus several county classes
Im one of few female firefighters in my department and am still struggling for common acceptance among fellow members and even a few line officers. I hate responding to the scene in my car, because the truck ride up is the only way to go. I also love taking classes...both classroom and hands-on.
My uncle was a firefighter in his home county, his stories always interested me as a child. Plus seeing the firetrucks drive by in my neighborhood pushed me even more
Why I Love Fire/EMS
the rush of jumping on the rig and pulling up to the scene, the feeling of knowing that Im doing something useful with my life.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
line officers who shouldnt be in position. The qualifications for each position should be more strict. Also, active members who are in no shape to even wear a pack (take care of yourself first, and be realistic about your limitations)
