I am married 16 years to a retired medic. My day job is as Test Pilot and Flight Instructor for Allegro LSA based in NC. I have worked in my youth as a Lifeguard and EMT through college. I was an Aircraft Electrician (68F) in the Army NCNG for 8 years.

Why I Joined Fire/EMS
For purely selfish reasons. One of our local departments refilled my SCUBA tanks for free 6 weeks in a row. I joined up so I could fill my own. Go back to School. Re=up my EMT that ran out in 1988, and get additional dive training. I have no problem with paying my community for what they have done for my by doing all the training and becoming an asset in return. Now I have an option on a second career that gives me some physical exercise.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
It makes my brain and body work.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Community Politics that interferes with dispatching calls.
Your gear can be too good. You can get too hot and not know it is time to get out before it is too late.
