I'm already certified in HAZMAT and I'm currently in Firefighter 1 and I'll be done in may, then I'm gonna take the firefighter 2 test and then I'm gonna take classes to get my EMT basic and Paramedic.

My name is Ricky Hurkmans. I am 20 years old and I live in Iron River, MI. I'm a musican and song writer. I'm on the Caspian/Gaastra volunteer fire department but I want to become a full time carrer firefighter.

Why I Joined Fire/EMS

I joined the Caspian/Gaastra Fire Department as a steping stone to get some training and experience under my belt. It is my dream to become a carrer firefighter and I'm open to any advise people may have for me to help me reach my goal.

I love to help and protect people and their property and I love how the fire department feels like one big family, "The Brotherhood"
