About Me:
I have been a member of the East Brunswick Rescue Squad for 15 years. Both of my daughters (now 20 and 17), joined on their respective 16th birthdays as cadets and served as cadet president--my youngest is now in EMT training.
I am a CHILDREN'S ENTERTAINER, performing as Tickles the Clown for parties, schools, and recreation departments. (I have a special safety program that is popular in the summer) See a goofy video about smoke detectors, starring Tickles the Clown and Firefighter Peter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOyhp5F5X50

I'm also a CHILDREN'S WRITER. My new children's book, "Tree House in a Storm," will be released in August 2009. A portion of proceeds will go to the Red Cross of New Jersey and Habitat for Humanity of New Orleans to aid in disaster relief. Please visit my website: www.Rachelleburk.com

Why I Joined Fire/EMS
I would always stop and help a stranger in an emergency, so I wanted to be able to do it safely and effectively. Pretty straight forward.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
Besides the usual good feeling about helping my community, there is a sense of security in knowing how to respond and help in an emergency--whether for yourself, your family, or a stranger.
