Why I Joined Fire/EMS: I became a police officer in 1999... through that training I became a certified "first responder." Later I decided to obtain my EMT certification, which I now have. I didn't like being the first on scene and not having every ability or skill I could have in order to handle an emergency. I love being involved with my community and every once in a while you get "the call" that reminds you why you do this. I am a paid police officer and a volunteer EMT/firefighter. I also am the EVOC driver/EMT for a paramedic unit (also volunteer).
