My Training:
This is my first year as a fire explorer for the Burlingame Fire Department. My department trains on a varity of different scenarios from ice-water rescues to car fires and structure fires to any type of medical. We also go over ladder-rescues, which I've done and extricaton, which i have'nt got to yet.
About Me:
My name is Nicholas Havel, I usually go by Nick, I live in Burlingame, Kansas I am fourteen years old, and this is my first year in the fire service. I am a Fire Explorer for the Burlingame Fire Department. My dad, Monte Havel, is also on the Burlingame Fire Department. I live north-west of Burlingame, about 8 miles. I live on a ranch, that runs around 175 head of cattle (mostly angus) and a couple horses. My dad, Monte, owns his own trucking company (Bestway Truckline Inc.). I have one sister, Tiffany Havel, and my mom Kelli Havel. I really enjoy the fire service and plan on staying with the Burlingame Fire Department and going to Hutchinson Community College and earning my degree in Fire Science, then applying for the fire service in Lawrence, Kansas.
Day Job:
I go to school at Burlingame Jr./Sr. High School and work on my dads ranch in the summer.

Single
Why I Joined Fire/EMS
I joined the fire service in Burlingame because I enjoy fighting fires and helping my community. I also enjoy the feeling when Im there to help save a life or assist my fellow firefighters.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
I enjoy spending time helping people and having fun. I also like the feeling when I have accomplished something on a fire call.

Nicholas, welcome to the FF Nation. I am glad you dropped in to join the group. Dont be shy. There is lots to do, read and be involved with. Your participation and involvement is important to us all. Takes a bit to kinda figure it all out but you will be glad you did. Have fun and look around.
