I am a 40 year old divorced mother of 3. My oldest just joined the firehouse as a junior member. She is now the 6th generation in my family to be involved in the fire service.

Why I Joined Fire/EMS

While I was in high School (Harry S Truman) I was studying Psychology (Carl Greco) who assigned us a thesis as to why people volunteered. A friend of mine was a member of LFHRS Medic 154. and told me to come ride with them on Saturday. I went with them on Saturday and was hooked. I have been a volly since then 1983

Why I Love Fire/EMS

I am a adrenaline junkie............. and a major wacker..............

Top Issues Facing Responders:

People refusing to yield to fire fighters trying to get to the station. I know they do not have to yield but they are also the same people that will complain when it takes us too long to get to their house.
