as of now I have obtained my emt basic and intermediate and have worked private ambulance under both licenses. I am half way to my paramedic cert as well as half way to my fire science degree.

About Me:

for the past year i have pretty much been working under the special events section of my agency with some street shifts thrown in here and there. Most people dont think much of special event folks but we see just as much as any other medic would. I have gotten my fair shares of overdoses of all sorts as well as other random medical situations. I love what i do and approach it with a very laid back mentality so i dont wear myself out.

Why I Joined Fire/EMS

i wanted to first just obtain the general knowledge of an emt-basic but once i started school it was like a drug and i needed more. So i now have my Intermediate cert., i am half-way though my firefighter 1 training, and I am working for a local private ambulance company and love every second of it! (besides the pay)

Why I Love Fire/EMS

I love being that person who has the abilities to calm the person/family, and to be able to tell them that i will do everything that i can to make this a good outcome

Top Issues Facing Responders:

as with any career there is always going to be those few who work the job because they have to and not because they want to. What we do requires more then showing up and picking up your pay check every two weeks. What we do needs care, patients, and a will to succeed and learn. Those who just show up and kind of attack this career with a who cares attitude make the rest of us, who do care, look un professional and that is not how we should be portrayed.
