Why I Joined Fire/EMS
I had a brush with death when I was 17. I was driving some friends home one night, it was pouring out and another car was coming the opposite direction as I was and he was in my lane, out of control. He spun around my moving car and flipped down an embankment. I turned around and called 911 and it turned out it was one of my good friends, self exticated and in the middle of the road when I got to him. He was bleeding from several lacerations and I provided first aid until fire/ems units arrived from the companies I am actually apart of now. This incident made me realize what my calling really was.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
The adrenaline rush from the stress of calls, having someones life in my hands is one of the greatest feelings in the entire world. Helping people is just a regular part of my life.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Responder safety. It's sad when EMS professional have to wear body armour to protect them selves from violence. I am one of them, I wear a vest when I work with my EMS departments.
