Other Past or Current Departments and Organizations
5years Army prior to joining the fire brigade
My Training:
My training includes Stage 2 heavy road accident rescue and Breathing Apparatus support van operations which include entry/exit control, air line trolley operations and stage 2 BA board control.
About Me:
I'm a very active person outside of work. On my days off I'm generally outside helping mates out with home projects or just hanging out. I do taekwondo in my spare time and I generally travel a fair bit when I'm on holidays.
Day Job:
Fireman
Relationship Status:
Single
Why I Joined Fire/EMS
I wanted to have a more stable life than what the army had to offer but I still wanted to serve so I applied for the fire department.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
Every day is different and I have the ability to make a difference in someone else's life
Top Issues Facing Responders:
The increasing amount of medical assistance required and the level of training needed to cope.
Training and keeping up to date with current firefighting techniques, especially compartment fire behaviour training.

Matt, I am retired now a year. However, I do recall friends who were part of firefighter exchanges. I am sure there are programs out there, I am just not connected anymore. This is a good place to post that question however. Good luck Brother.
Welcome to Firefighter Nation Matt I'm glad you joined the group. There is lots to do, read and be involved with. Your participation and involvement is important to us all.
