About Me:
I am a 56 yr old male involved in EMS since I was 18. Started off in the Fire Dept Rescue unit. Then went to all EMS work. I have done EMS both as a volunteer and as a paid EMT. I was an EMT 3 for 6 yrs which in N.Y. was sinilar to a paramedic we started lines adminstered meds. but we had to call the base hospital before adminstering the meds. I worked out of Bellvue Hospital for 6 Yrs. in NYC for NYC EMS, before it changed to FDNY. I loved it there but was transfered to Queens Gnereal and then INside to Comunuications to dispatch and answer 911 ibcoming calls.
Day Job:
Human Service Technician (Nurses Aide) State of Nre Jersey, Hagadorn Psychiatric Hospital
Relationship Status:
Married
Why I Joined Fire/EMS
Wanted to assist, help people in need .
Why I Love Fire/EMS
Helping the Sick and injured.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Loss of Volunteers and the number of credits needed to maintain or Renew EMT. I know and realize that we must maintain our training, but in my opinion there is to much MANDATORY training. I.E. I work 2nd shift 3p11p at the hospital and it is extremely didicult to get mandatory training since 90% of all training is done at night or on weekends and people like me and the people I work with have to work every other weekend. Agaian causing major problems in training.
