Top Issues Facing Responders:
Proper Training and Continued Training Throughout Career/ Proper Turnout Gear and Tools of Profession/ Proper Pay, Benefits, Pension System/Proper Care of Family Wife and Children upon Death of Firefighters and Fire Officers in Line of Duty / I saw far to many Firefighters and Officers die every year of my career and I am lucky to be alive a number of times it could have easily gone the other way and I would not be here now. We need Safer Firefighting and Emergency Service Procedures and Tactics. In Addition when I first became a Firefighter in our original Firefighting Gear we could feel heat and knew not to go to deep during an interior attack on fire. Once our Gear became more safisticated we could go much deeper because we could not feel heat as well . Firefighters and Officers in certain cases of serious fires particularly in the truck ( ladder) went to deep and were killed during Flash Over do to not feeling heat as well in new More heat resistant gear. There is a desperate need for More Training and Invention of High Heat Sensors for Fire Gear that Will Warn Fire Personnel in Advance of Flash Over....This would Save Alot Of Lives in The Future. Also more Awareness of Potential Collapse of Structures during interior attack........
