Worked for American Ambulance 32 year's as a EMT II. Then on 01/21/2001 I fall 35 feet to a cement floor braking both legs and eventually the amputation of my RT.leg just below the knee. So I am semi retired because of it ;-(

I was a volunteer firefighter for 33 year's. Then I had a 35 foot fall at my full time job with the amputation of my right leg below the knee.

Why I Joined Fire/EMS
When I was young we lived closed to a fire station. I always thought it would be cool to become a firefighter to help people. So at 17 I joined Benton Co Fire Dist 3 where I was a firefighter/EMY II. I was on that department for 22 year's before moving and joining Yakima Co Fire Dist 5 for 11 year's, and was a volunteer there till my fall and the amputation of my right leg.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
Helping someone who basically having a real bad day.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Finding and keeping Volunteer Firefighter - training - updating equipment - money.
