My Training:
Too numerous to list...I'd be here all day...
About Me:
I have done quite a bit in the Emergency Services field. I started in a small rural VFD and held all positions from Firefighter to Asst Chief. Spent 4 wonderful years as a paid F/F for 2 different depts. Never would have left Wilkinsburg if they were looking to lay off at the time. I have also worked in the industrial setting at a Steel Mill in the Pittsburgh area. Good time, lots of potential for good fires. Spent time as an EMT...it paid...Have been a dispatcher for the past 7 years, it's ok...but not a firefighting job...pays the bills...
Day Job:
Emergency Telecommunicator(dispatcher) for Allegheny Co (PA) Dept of Emergency Services- 911
Relationship Status:
Married
Why I Joined Fire/EMS
I grew up in a house with a volunteer fire chief...It grew on me. Also married into a family of a paid fire captain...
Why I Love Fire/EMS
Everyday is different and I have deffinately been a part of the "Brotherhood",
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Lack of certification requirements for firefighters in the state of PA. Anybody can join today and pull a hoseline tomorrow. Makes alot of calls a game of Russian Roulette
