I am almost finished with the Florida FF1 Program. I have Blood-borne Pathogens Awareness, First Responder, EVOC (Driver), Haz-Mat Awareness, Haz-Mat Operations, Wild-land Firefighting (S-130 & S-190), USAR Awareness, & NIMS-ICS 100, 200, 700, & 800.
About Me:
I am a volunteer in Escambia County, FL. I am also a FF for the USAF Reserves. I sometimes ride Auxiliary with ECEMS.
I was big into sports and clubs in high school. When I graduated, I wasn't a part of anything. I joined a fire department for that reason. Now, I'm in love with firefighting and EMS.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
It's cheezy, but helping people. Not to mention, running 10-18!
Top Issues Facing Responders:
The relationship between career and volunteer firefighters. Also, the growing amount of training volunteers are forced to have in order to fight fire is getting a bit ridiculous. I'm not saying that the first day a new guy shows up he should be in the hot zone. However, in some states it's getting to the point where Vollies need all the training the paid guys get. And since most of them have jobs, that's a little difficult to acquire.
