Peebles FD To Host Open House / Firewise Presentation

Peebles Fire Department would like to invite all members of the community to a fire department open house / hog roast / Firewise Communities USA award presentation on Saturday, February 7, 2009 from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm. The location of the event will be the new firehouse at 4613 Unity Road, Peebles. Citizens are encouraged to attend and enjoy a tour of the newly built Peebles Fire Department facility, along with some good food, courtesy of the fire department members and families. At 1:00 pm the Adams County Commissioners will be given recognition for awarding the grant project, along with a tour of the facility. At 2:00 pm, the Ohio Division of Forestry will present Peebles VFD with a Firewise Communities USA certification. This certification is a national award for excellence in wildfire prevention, education, and community safety. Peebles joins approximately 350 communities across the U.S. in earning this unique honor, and becomes the third Ohio community to earn this certification. While at the event, please pick up some literature about wildfire and home safety from fire department members, and be sure to bring the kids along to say hello to Smokey Bear.
