Why I Joined Fire/EMS
long story here, my father has been a baltimore city fire fighter for about twenty five years coming up soon. he used to be on medic 1 and now hes on engine 23 as first acting. my mother has been in for about 7 years now, she used to be on medic 3 and than squad medic 11. shes now been "retired" both of them are paramedics and firefighters. ever since i first saw my dad at his station, i had thought about it, when i heard that gong go off and saw them run and jump on the wagon and bottle up, all so quick that they werent even out of the station yet, after that i knew what i wanted to do. the day i turned sixteen i walked up tp my local squierel house and joined. it was the begining of a legacy... lol
Why I Love Fire/EMS
the adrenaline of being there to help people while preforming my best in the worst.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
-Balls, grow them.
-"Dancing with the devil" should not be shunned upon.
-you have a job, do it.
-the community expects you show up and put the fire out... granted there is a time to admit defeat, but never without giving your damnedest first. if you save a picture, its as good as a life to the person who just lost it all. if a life is in jepordy its our job to save them or give your all, this is not a safe job... never has been. stop sugar coating and bubble wrapping the world.
