About Me:

I have been in the fire service most of my adult life except for a stint in the Army. My whole family is in this business. My wife has been a volunteer firefighter for many years. She is also a medical first responder and a great Haz-Mat tech, my son is a firefighter and first responder currently working on his EMT basic. My daughter is a professional firefighter paramedic. Her husband is a FF too.

Why I Joined Fire/EMS

Orignally signed on with USFS as a ground crew member just for the money while in college and then it just got more interesting

Why I Love Fire/EMS

Complicated question - many reasons

Top Issues Facing Responders:

Reduced funding, reduced grant opportunities, increasing standards, changing demographics and expectations of customers and recruits, and fire itself is now hotter than ever, more dangerous and training, textbooks, and research are not keeping up.
