About Me:
Retired Assistant Chief of Police
Married for 46 years to the most understading person I know. One daughter and one son, but my wife raised three kids. She still trying with me!!!!!!!!!!!
Day Job:
Lecompton FIRE/EMS, volunteer, but it takes about 30 hours a week just for the paperwork anymore.
Relationship Status:
Married
Why I Joined Fire/EMS
To make a difference. If I had a "do over", I'd have gone fulltime!
Why I Love Fire/EMS
Still love the job after all these years. Can't say the same about the law enforcement career!
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Training, training, training! You cannot get enough. Also, retention of volunteers. You get them trained in FF I, FF II, and as an EMT and they leave for the big city. But, it makes you feel good that you have done your part to send them on their way.

Welcome to the Nation and I hope you get as much out of the interaction here as I have had. It's a great resource. While you are online, I'd also suggest checking out my blog, Firehouse Zen, over on the FireEMSBlogs network.
FHZ is a little different than the rest, as our discussion is supposed to remain civil and cerebral. As we say, "It's brain food for Mongo". So come on by and check it out and if you are on Facebook, you can "like" our page over there as well. Stay safe-
