Fire Department is quiet...

but, Back Country team has been called 3 times in the last two weeks. Another injured hiker yesterday. All teams were held in command center, and one team with a MD went up and brought the hiker down. Poor weather was starting, rain and wind....

RIT to Station Coverage..

toned at 5AM today for RIT team to respond to Berlin. Halfway there, down graded to station coverage. Oh well.....they always have good food and coffee!!

Another moose v. car MVC

2 cars v. bull moose...guess who won? Well no winners, moose DOA. Car 1? About the same. Roof was pushed back like an accordian. Driver minor facial lacerations. Car 2 hit the moose, that caused airbag deployment and radiator puncture. Moose was about 650lbs, with a 14 point rack.

Back Country Rescue response

responded on a second call out for a extraction off of the Long Trail in the Burnt Rocks/Burnt Mtn. area. A hiker suffered a fractured ankle on the trail. Intial call out was approx. 1400 hrs, on Saturday. Call for additional manpower was at 0300 Sunday. First crews arrived at patient at 2000 hrs Saturday evening. Responding teams included Waterbury Back Country Rescue, Mad River Valley Ambulance, Colchester Technical Rescue and Moretown, Waitsfield, Warren Fire departments. Patient was…

I can instruct!! Completed the required course. Still a few more "train the trainers" but, I am well on my way! I look forward to making a difference in the world of firefighting.
