Why I Joined Fire/EMS

I bought my new house just down the block from the fire station in July of 2000. thought about how I could give back to the community, help people in need, meet new friends, and have some self satisfaction.So I asked to join one night when the guys were working "one worth going to"
Now, Ive been on the dept. 8 years, and have been elected to the position of 2nd assistant chief.
It was the best decission I've ever made. I ve made some great friends, helped save some houses, empathized with parents watching thier children getting "cut" out of thier cars, and had a hand in building up the Wallingford Fun Day.
There are so many more reasons, and more coming every day.
I cant imagine not being a fireman.
