About Me:
Hey, I'm assuming you want a bio here.
I joined the WFD in October of last year. Not quite a year yet, but almost. Besides volunteering at the Fire Department, I work at our local pool as a Lifeguard.
I like Firefighting and the skills you acquire, the respect you earn, and the honor you receive. I hope to make a career out of it, and help as many people as I can.
As the local fire chief lives next door, I always saw him driving around in the Chief's Car, wearing an awesome uniform, and telling stories about saving homes and lives. I thought to myself, "Wow, that looks and sounds amazingly awesome. Does he really get paid to do that?".
On my 16th birthday, he handed me 2 applications to join the Juniors at the Fire Department, 1 to sign, the other one just in case I messed up.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
I like Firefighting and the skills you acquire, the respect you earn, and the honor you receive. I hope to make a career out of it, and help as many people as I can.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Their Health. I know some Firefighters whom have developed lung or skin cancer from being exposed to hazardous materials.
Funding is another issue. As safety is very important, the best and newest gear is always needed, and with such a tight budget, it makes it harder to provide many of the necessary equipment items required.
