Why I Joined Fire/EMS
I joined the Fire Department because I wanted to make a positive difference in the lives of others. I grew up around the rescue squad and I love hearing the war stories from the older members. Because of them I decided that I wanted to be a role model to younger kids, like they were to me. I wanted to have my own war stories.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
There is no way that there is a greater high in the world.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
There are a lot of issues currently facing responders, the main issue though in the lack of volunteers. No one wants to do anything anymore unless they are paid for, but without volunteers the career agencies are nothing. Another issue is feuding among departments. I hate it when people from different departments argue with each other over whos better. Each company brings something to a fire scene or ems call, and no matter what company they are from, or what kind of responce they have to the call, their help is appreciated by that patient because some stranger cared enough to come in their time of need. To me thats all that matters.
