Hey Alan, Good luck to you on Monday. Could be interesting how it all turns out. I've never heard of the website you're talking about but I'll see what I can find.

Thanks for the update Alan, I'll get the brothers and sisters to rally behind you! Good luck.
Be strong my friend and know that a lot of us over here know what's going on. That guy visited a few states here and the word is out. As you know, our country is also going threw a fiscal crises too. Not to the magnitude you are but know this, we are watching and hoping you guys win out in the end. Because if it works over there, who knows where the fight to destroy FF unions will go next.
Stay safe, god bless and keep me up to date, i'd love to know how your fight is going from someone on the front lines. No matter what they do remember, what we do makes a difference and never forget that's why we chose this path. You have a beautiful family, great pics, fight hard for them, good luck.

I totally understand it's no big deal. As a matter of fact, you'd be surprised to know that many of us are familiar with our UK's brothers plight. I'm a member of the PFFM a state wide FF union, much like to IAFF but just for massachusetts FF's. At our October meeting we had a guy from Australia come in and speak, he wasn't a special speaker, just a member of an international firefighter organization that happened to be in the states and was hanging with some e-board members here. He was here to share union info and see how we do things here.
He got a taste of how we work and deal with the government, both local and state. One of the things he talked about was your fight and how your government is trying to break and destroy FF unions in the UK and also where he was from. I guess Australia is going threw similar issues if not now, soon.
Prior to 2006, i was a federal FF, but now i work for a state department now that was created when the federal government took away our aircraft. The base is so big and important to mass., they had to keep it open. But the air force said they are not in the fire fighting business and that something else would have to be done. With that being said the state of mass. agreed to take over fire fighting operations here on base even though the coast guard, army and marines are still here. But it has been a 2-1/2 year fight to get anything done on our new contract. We are still fighting, but our fight is nothing like yours. We have jobs but our conditions and benefits we are not sure about. You on the other hand are fighting for your jobs, families and a way of life.

Alan, Welcome to the Firefighter Nation. I am glad you joined the group. There is lots to do, read and be involved with. Your participation and involvement is important to us all. Have fun and look around.
alan, welcome to the group ,,,, it's a fun place & does have some interesting blog discussions but i also like seeing how other departments do the same thing ,,,, but i areally like looking at different styled apparatus's used all over the world ,,,, i'm a crash firefighter and we have some of the weirdest ,,,, word to the wise, if you trade patches be careful, there are a few people here that just want to get then not send one back ,,,, i won't mail anything now till i have something in hand ,,,, my goal now is not to get a patch from you i do not collect them ,,,, (but i will trade duty tee-shirts from far away countries and that's how i got "BURNED", i sent the sleaze a tee-shirt & 3 patches and got nothing back ...) i'm just watch-n your back, something most of us on the job understand, it's a big part of what the brotherhood and the family is all about ,,,, if you wanna add me as a friend, great ,,,, if not, that too is OK because this message is intended to mostly welcome but also warn you at the same time ,,,,
what we do makes a difference, be safe, god bless and smile a lot, it will piss someone off lmao :) :) ,,,,
