“Service before Self” is one of the core values of the Air Force and a value shared by all emergency services. Have you ever sat down and really thought about that? People volunteer to serve... normal people. Normal everyday people do extraordinary things. You don’t have to be superhuman to serve.

yet you hear it from two types of people who denigrate the efforts of the volunteer!

the lazy one who refuses to help anyone out of sheer selfishness.

the troll type be they insurance agents posing as firefighters who will promote propoganda against volunteers for the purpose of retaining the premiums.

I hear this al the time from those who pretend to be professional firefighters spouting off about getting rid of those who cannot maintain unrealistic physical standards.

as a volunteer I put my life on the line just as much if not more than the paid fire services.

I take the time out of my own life to attend all the training I can get.

including traveling to distant schools using my own personal vehicle.

safety is paramount to me but protecting my brothers and sisters out there is more important to me than my own life.

I learned this from my own term of serving my country, It is well ingrained and my resolve is iron hard and immovable.

if you are a first respond-er, police, or anyone involved on my scenes you are under my protection whether i know you personally or not.

stay safe out there brothers and sisters!
